Chapter 60 – Let’s propose a contract!!

Rose starts unraveling the vines that make up the cage, and the white dragon looks confused by this.

I take out a special high quality potion I prepared, and the white dragon starts wagging its tail.

It’s probably thinking it’s time to eat.

I open the bottle and pour the potion onto a glass plate.

The white dragon is staring at it with a shine in its eyes.

“Are you going to use that as bait to form a contract”

“Lady Kalin, shh.”

The spectators behind me are noisy, but I ignore them and slowly place the glass plate in front of the white dragon.

It’s still a dragon, even if it’s very young.

Its fangs are sharp, and without the cage in the way, it could easily attack me and take an arm.

Rose should be able to stop it just in time, but I still can’t help but be nervous.

But in the end, my fears were unfounded.

It doesn’t look like it has any intention to attack.

I’ve been feeding it potions in this glass plate for the past few days, so it’s used to it.

It looks like the white dragon is enjoying this high quality potion even more than the others.

I should have brought some concentrated magic element solutions with me.

They’re necessary to make high quality potions, but they’re a pain to make.

But I have to do this if I want the white dragon to stay still and listen to me.

Still, I wonder what happened to the concentrated magic element solutions I left in the alchemist association.

I hope they’re safely stored.

I think about this while making preparations to form a contract, but it’s not like there’s much to do.

From what I’ve read in fairy-tales and legends, forming a contract is more about the primordial magic of the dragon.

Basically, there’s not much for the human to do.

But one thing that I’ve read in those legends is that for the contract ritual to begin, the human must offer his blood.

I take out a special knife made from twin linehorn horn.

There’s a fine groove on the blade and a pattern carved in.

I grab the twin linehorn knife with an underhand grip, and slowly cut my left arm.

The capillary action leads the blood into the pattern.

The white dragon has finished licking the potion, and is now looking at me like it’s wondering what I’m doing.

I hold out the knife with my blood right in front of its nose.

“My name is Rust.

I am an alchemist.

I seek to form a contract.

Please accept my blood.”

The white dragon quietly listens, before suddenly approaching the knife with its nose.

Ah.

I’ve only eaten portable rations for the past few days.

Did it affect even the smell of my blood

Contrary to my concerns, the white dragon licks my blood on the knife.

It licked it! But now what

The white dragon spreads its wings, and as if prompted by this, something appears between us.

It’s a half transparent plate with letters I’ve never seen before, hovering in the air.

“What is this I’ve never seen something like this.”

I say while tilting my head.

“Do you see anything, Ahri and Roa”

“I see nothing in particular.”

“Me neither.”

Say Kalin, Ahri, and Roa.

“Eh You don’t see this”

I say while pointing to the plate.

“Yes, I don’t see anything there.

Answers Kalin.

I closely inspect this plate.

I try to touch it, but as I suspected, my hand goes right through it.

But something happens when my hand goes through the plate.

The letters begin to rewrite themselves.
