Fake 37: Distance Of The Hearts

My skill’s ability is imitation.

In the first place, even the name is [Faker], which means fake.

This is directly related to my lack of self-confidence.

Whenever I looked at my deteriorated skills, I ended up thinking I would never be able to match up to the original skills.

I also think that this skill might have embodied my true essence as a person.

I myself am a fake, a failure who can’t do anything except imitate others.

A copy without originality.

Ever since I was little, I’d been envious of the classmates around me who had things that I didn’t have.

I’d always fancied someone else’s things that I could never get.

There were times I despised myself for this; even so, I was still envious of others.

I was envious of my classmates talking about the games.

I was envious of them talking about mangas.

I was envious of them when they talked about pocket money.

When I heard them talking they went somewhere to play, I was envious.

All of these were dreams that never came true for me.

After I became a high school student, I was envious of my classmates’ skills.

Seeing my classmates forming regular parties, I also wanted to form one.

I was envious when I saw them buying whatever they liked with the money gained from their survivor activities.

After I luckily leveled up and started earning money, I stopped thinking much about it.

However, I don’t think my heart was satisfied now that I looked back on it.

Even though I stopped feeling envious, I never thought I was happy.

However, everything had changed since I met Aoi.

Aoi took care of me, acknowledged me and denied that I was an incompetent person.

Aoi stayed with me, formed a party with me, cooked for me and ate together with me.

Aoi even tutored me in my studies.

All of Aoi’s actions and feelings filled my heart.

I’ve noticed that I started feeling happy after meeting Aoi.

I think this comfortable and soothing feeling that I have never felt until now is the feeling of happiness.

Although it’s only been a month since I met Aoi, my gray-colored heart and my daily life began to have faint colors thanks to Aoi.

This is the first time in my 16 years of life.

Now, I have realized it.

I have fallen in love with Aoi.

I’ve never fallen in love with someone before.

To tell you the truth, I’ve already given up on the idea of falling in love with someone.

However, I met Aoi.

We became partners, and I got to know about her.

It was inevitable that I fell in love with Aoi.

But, I don’t want to change my current relationship with Aoi.

I want to see Aoi’s smile.

I want Aoi to be able to smile all the time.

I want to help her so that she can always be happy.

I want to repay even a small amount of what Aoi has done for me.

The moment I realized my feelings, tears overflowed from my eyes for some reason.

“Rin-kun! What happened Did I do something wrong Are you alright Ahh”

“It’s not because of Aoi.

Aoi, thank you for always.

Thank you for being my partner.”

“Ri, Rin-kun, w-what are you saying all of a sudden…… Me, me too.

Thank you very much.

Thank you for being my partner.”

It was totally uncool of me, and I couldn’t clearly see Aoi’s expression due to the tears.

However, she was probably smiling.

In Aoi’s words, she was also grateful to me for being her partner.

Since that day, although a little, I started to have more confidence in myself.

There weren’t any particular changes in my relationship with Aoi; however, it felt like the distance between our hearts had become a little closer.
